Addis Ababa, April 15, 2016 (FBC) The Sidama Regional Forestry and Climate Change Authority called on the community to help the campaign to prevent environmental pollution by giving plastic waste to organized associations.

 

Yosef Thibo, Director of Environmental Protection and Climate Change, said that the regional movement platform has been officially launched with the motto "Enough pollution, wake up beauty" and campaign activities will be carried out for six months.

 

He pointed out that there are plastic, air, water, soil and noise pollution identified as the source of pollution and stated that a plan has been prepared and implemented to take into account the impact of pollution on the environment.

 

They told ESA that they are currently working together with organized associations to prevent the effects of plastic pollution on the environment.

 

The associations announced that they are engaged in the work of collecting and recycling plastic products in different cities and that awareness work has been done so that they can be part of the movement.

 

He pointed out that research has proven that plastic has the ability to remain in the soil for 500 to 1,000 years.

 

They also called on the society to help the campaign started to prevent environmental pollution by giving plastic waste to organized associations.

 

Associations organized for the recycling of plastic products, on the other hand, confirmed that they will work hard to make the nationwide movement to prevent air pollution effective.
