The council discussed the bill for the establishment of multi-city capitals with representatives of society from all six zones of the region.
In the discussion forum, it was pointed out that Bonga, Tarta, Mizan Aman and Tepi will be the capital cities of the region in the bill for the establishment of multiple cities.
Bonga City will be the seat of the political and head government, Tarcha will be the seat of the regional council, Mizan Aman will be the seat of the judiciary and Tepi will be the seat of the ethnic council.
It is also mentioned in the draft decree that the capital cities of the region were made to be four to ensure fair economic growth.
The information we received from the regional communication indicates that if the bill is subsequently approved by the regional council and implemented, the Southwest Ethiopian People's Region will be the first region to have four capital cities of equal status.
