Metered taxi service provider Yango will offer its drivers a full premium insurance policy.
Yango has signed a tripartite agreement with Neb Bank and Neb Insurance today.
The agreement will allow Yango drivers who have paid the mandatory third-party coverage required by law to benefit from additional premium insurance.
The agreement will also allow Yango drivers who only had third-party insurance to pay their full insurance premium to Neb Insurance.
“The tripartite agreement is designed to address a critical challenge faced by Yango drivers and provide them with affordable and accessible comprehensive car insurance,” said Tewodros Mehari, deputy director of Gituj IT Solutions, which operates Yango.
“Currently, most Yangon drivers rely solely on third-party insurance to protect their vehicles,” said Ato Tewodros; as a result, they risk spending their main source of income on repairs in the event of an accident, putting themselves and their families in danger.
Therefore, today’s agreement, he said, is expected to significantly reduce the financial burden on drivers, as it allows drivers to pay premiums monthly rather than in one go.
He also said that the system will allow drivers to deduct premiums directly from their bonuses, allowing drivers to pay their premiums by deducting them from their bonuses.
As a result, drivers will be able to protect their vehicles and provide peace of mind to their families with comprehensive coverage, he added.
Yango, a global metered taxi service provider operated by Gituj IT Solutions, has been operating in Ethiopia since November 2016.
