Due to climate change, the average temperature in Ethiopia is increasing by more than 1 degree Celsius every year.
Ethiopia's share of global greenhouse gas emissions is said to be 0.04 percent.
It is said that developed countries are not providing the financial support to Africa to support climate change as promised at each conference, so the work to prevent climate change has not been as desired.
This was said in advance of the second African Climate Change Conference, which will be hosted by Ethiopia from 3 to 5 May.
The Ministry of Water and Energy said that the conference and exhibition that will be held today and tomorrow will be a pre-conference before the main conference.
Speaking at the opening of the event, the Minister of Energy at the Ministry of Water and Energy, Engineer Sultan Wali, said that the impact of climate change is starting to be seen more and more in Ethiopia and around the world.
This impact has caused the average annual temperature in Ethiopia to increase by 1 to 1.5 degrees Celsius, he said.
He said that African countries, which are dependent on agricultural production, are experiencing irregular and inconsistent rainfall patterns, which are testing their agricultural operations.
He said that floods that used to occur in various areas every 10 years or more are now becoming frequent and causing great damage.
He said that prolonged and repeated droughts in various areas, severe groundwater and surface water shortages, increased health problems such as malaria, and other recurring effects of climate change are the result of climate change.
The Minister of State, who stated that all these effects are also being widely seen in Ethiopia, said that Ethiopia's share in global greenhouse gas or carbon emissions is 0.04 percent.
The research paper presented at the event explained that 82 percent of the world's energy demand is still being met by energy alternatives such as oil and coal, which have a high share in climate change.
On the other hand, the growth rate of renewable energy worldwide is only 2 percent.
Minister of State for Energy Engineer Sultan said that Africa should stand together to promote Africa's alternative climate protection methods and technologies to the rest of the world at the second African Climate Change Conference being hosted by Ethiopia.
He said that Africans will also demand that the promised climate change financial and technical assistance be implemented.
