Ethiopian Airlines inaugurated today the aircraft body manufacturing facility which it built at a cost of 6 million dollars.

 

In his speech at the inauguration ceremony, the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, Mr. Mesfen Tasue, stated that Ethiopian Airlines has established an aircraft component manufacturing company called "Ethiopian Sky Technologies" in partnership with an Italian aerospace company called Gavin Sky Techno through the Boeing Company.

 

Ato Mesfen said that the manufacturing facility is producing and supplying materials used for the interior of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft.

 

He explained that so far, he has produced and sent products for 6 Boeing 737 Max planes to the Boeing Company.

 

"This manufacturing facility is small. It will expand in the coming years," said Mr. Mesfan, adding that the entry of Ethiopian Airlines into the manufacturing industry will generate knowledge transfer, bring in foreign currency and create job opportunities.

 

The ceremony was attended by the Director General of Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority Mr. Getachew Mengste, Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Investment Holdings Mr. Mamo Mehretu, Chief Executive Officer of Industrial Parks Development Corporation Mr. Sandokan Debebe, Managing Director of Given Sky Mr. Alberto Venerus and the Italian Ambassador to Ethiopia Mr. Augustino Palese. .
