In Addis Ababa, ID renewal will start at the end of the month

 

Addis Ababa, October 4, 2022 The general manager of the city administration, with the rank of deputy mayor, said that the renewal of identity cards, which has been suspended by the Addis Ababa city administration, will begin at the end of October.

 

It is recalled that the service has been temporarily stopped in order to solve the problem by providing a permanent solution to the corrupt practices observed in the capital city.

 

It has been stated that the city administration has identified leaders and employees who were involved in the corrupt activities and held them accountable.

 

The General Manager said that during his stay with ESA, management and experts who were involved in illegal activities related to the provision of services were found.

 

He stated that 90 leaders and experts have been held accountable through monitoring in all sub-cities, especially in 37 districts where the problem has been highlighted.

 

It has been announced that the suspended ID card renewal will begin at the end of October following the legal process.

 

Besides this, it is said that the work of updating the system will continue so that the residents of the city can use digital ID.

 

He said that at present, papers that are used to provide identification with their own identity and mystery are being printed, and that the task of giving them to the residents will be done in the future.
