The performance of the government's sectoral plan for nine months of the 2015 fiscal year was reviewed in the presence of ministers of state, council members and heads of institutions.

 

According to the Minister of State for Trade and Regional Relations Eta Kasahun Gofe, smuggling and illegal trade are challenging the foreign and domestic trade system.

Commissioner of the Ethiopian Customs Commission, Debele Kabeta, said that smuggling and illegal trade are harming the country's economy, so they are working together with security agencies to prevent it.

 

He pointed out that many institutions are not carrying out their assigned missions properly and the management and legal traders are involved in smuggling, which has made the problem complicated.

 

ESA reported that they mentioned that the logistics and technological capabilities to control the risk are low and that a system will soon be launched to check the products of import and export trade with high efficiency.
