Working on the youth is to produce a generation that will take care of the country

A launch event was held for a project that will benefit young people aged 15-19 who are married and benefit from reproductive health services.

The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Dereje Duguma, along with senior officials of the Ministry, regional health office officials and representatives of partner organizations were present at the forum.

Minister of State for Health, Dr. Derje Duguma, in his opening speech at the forum, said that working on the health of the youth and ensuring their participation in all sectors is to produce a generation that will take care of the country.

Dr. Dereje said that if young people get married before their age, they will drop out of school, their future dreams will be darkened, and they may be exposed to death.

In order to solve the problem, the Minister of State emphasized that leaders should pay special attention to ensure that married youths have full information about the service and use it in their own plans.

In order to implement this, a month-long campaign program will be held to increase public awareness.

The project will last for five years and will be implemented in South, Sidama, Oromia, Amara, Somali and Afar regions, said Dr.

The officials of the health offices from the states also stated that they can work with determination to ensure the youth's access to health services by implementing the program in their respective states.

It is also stated that the program will work to benefit five million young people in selected regions.
