 In America, the price of eggs increased due to inflation

 

Energy and food prices hit record highs last month, rising 2.9 percent on average in December from a year earlier, as price stabilization progress remains elusive. The monthly report indicated that energy prices had inflation of more than 40% last month. It also shows that egg prices are expected to rise by more than 36 percent compared to 2023, with bird flu affecting egg supply and resulting in production shortages.

 

Prices of other goods rose less than expected during the month. That has fueled market concerns that the US central bank may take more aggressive action to stabilize prices. Seema Shah, chief global strategist at Major Asset Management, said the latest figures should "assuage some of the worries that the US is in the early stages of a second wave of inflation".

 

Last month's data showed increases in prices including used cars, airline fares, medical care and auto insurance. Grocery prices rose 0.3% in the month, up 1.8% from a year ago. Rents are the largest source of inflation and have recorded the highest rate of inflation.
