It has been stated that the preparatory work to celebrate the baptism festival in Amhara region, which is registered as an intangible asset as an international heritage, has been completed. It has been pointed out that the preparatory work has been completed by making the places needed to celebrate the festival clean and peaceful, and also by fixing accommodation places to receive the tourists who come to celebrate the festival.

 

Melkamu Adam, Director of Tourism Development of the Amhara Regional Culture and Tourism Bureau, said to Bisrat Radio and Television that the festival is a religious celebration, but it is a festival that stimulates service providers in cities and emphasizes benefits in the economic sector. 

 

It has been pointed out that the baptism festival in Gondar is historic and many foreign and domestic tourists will be present.  It has been stated that not less than one million tourists are expected to be present at the baptism festival celebrated in Gondar and the highest number of visitors is domestic tourists.

 

On the other hand, 21 of the 37 islands have monasteries and churches on Lake Tana, and it is pointed out that the arks on the lake have a religious system that impresses many tourists. In addition, since two years ago some churches have started celebrating the baptism festival at Lake Tana, Ato Melkamu Adam added to Bisrat Radio and Television.
