It has been stated that efforts are being made to ensure that participants from all areas of the Amhara Region can peacefully travel to Bahir Dar for the consultation phase scheduled for Saturday in the Amhara Region.
This statement was made by the National Consultation Commission.
The Commission has announced that the #Amhara_Region consultation phase will commence on the upcoming Saturday, Megabit 27, 2017 E.C. (Ethiopian Calendar).
The Commission’s spokesperson, Mr. Tibebu Tadese, has informed us that the necessary preparatory work for this consultation is currently underway.
It has been stated that efforts are being made in collaboration with the regional government to ensure that representatives from districts, in the conflict-affected Amhara Region, can peacefully arrive at the consultation venue in Bahir Dar.
It is recalled that several political parties have demanded that the National Consultation Commission in the Amhara Region should not start the consultation process—or that if it does, the outcome may not meet expectations—unless peace is established, the conflict ceases, armed groups participate, and political prisoners are released.
