A tax reform to encourage electric vehicle investment and imports has been implemented. The Ministry of Finance has announced that a tax reform has been implemented that will encourage industries and importers engaged in electric vehicle investment and benefit the society.

 

As a result of the tax reform, it is known that imported and domestically produced electric public transport vehicles, domestic automobiles and cargo vehicles will be subject to lower customs tariffs and will be exempted from value added tax, excise tax and sur tax.

 

It is stated that the purpose of the tax reform is to make the growing number of vehicles consistent with environmental safety within the policy framework, to implement a transportation system that does not harm public health, does not affect the climate and biodiversity, and uses renewable energy sources properly.

 

It was also pointed out that it aims to make electric vehicles available to the public at an affordable price.

 

According to the tax reform, regarding electric vehicles, the vehicles imported and assembled in the country will be completely exempted from customs duty, excise tax, value added tax and sur tax, according to the Ministry of Finance.

 

Also, only five percent customs duty will be levied on partially disassembled and assembled electric vehicles, and they will be exempted from excise tax, value added tax and sur tax.

 

When fully assembled electric vehicles are imported into the country, only 15 percent customs duty will be imposed on them, and it has been decided that they will be completely free from excise tax, value added tax and sur tax.
