Residents said that the district is not providing any support to restore or replace the houses destroyed by the flood in Emmanuel area.
The death of an 18-year-old teenager in the recent flood near Emmanuel Hospital in Addis Ababa has left many people saddened. Many have seen the severity of the disaster on social media.
Bisrat Radio heard that in a new case heard yesterday, another 25-year-old woman who is a member of the same family was injured in the accident and has been undergoing treatment, but she has passed away.
The families affected by the flood, whose houses were destroyed and lost their lives, complained to Bisrat Radio that the district did not provide enough support even though it has been 11 days since the disaster.
He said that the area where the families who have made their living in the houses owned by the district and other houses affected by the disaster is dangerous and still floods enter their houses every time it rains again.
They said that even after the accident, the district is not taking any action to restore the house or provide a replacement house.
Mengstu Shibru, the chief executive officer of Addisketema sub-city district 3, while giving his response to the question, said that the district has started to study the condition of the victims' houses today.
Residents say that the area is still vulnerable to such danger and we are in a difficult situation to live in, and the district responds that they are studying whether the area is at risk.
At present, the residents who have been displaced from their homes are sheltered at the first level school in the area, and they have called for support.
