In the city of Gondar, the 2016 school year of teaching and learning has started

The education department of the city administration announced that the teaching and learning work of the 2016 school year has officially started today in 83 public and private schools in Gondar city.

 

The department also stated that more than 155,000 textbooks prepared by the new curriculum in the city are accessible to primary schools.

 

At the opening ceremony of the school, the head of the department, Mr. Daniel Shattu, announced that the peace in the city has created a favorable environment for learning and teaching.

 

In the new school year, more than 90,000 students have registered in pre-school, primary and secondary schools.

 

He said that during the school year, 64 additional classrooms were built with the financial support of the Amhara Development Association (ALMA) and other partners.

 

The head also mentioned that learning materials valued at 15 million birr have been collected from various organizations and charitable individuals and distributed to students seeking support.

 

According to the head of the department, more than 155 thousand textbooks published in the city with the new curriculum have been made accessible to 65 primary schools.

 

The principal of the school, Maru Admasu, said that the Kebele 02 First and Full Cycle School in the city has welcomed more than 300 students.

 

The peace in the city has enabled students to come to school and start their studies, ESA reported.

 

"We, the students, want peace more than anything to achieve our future dreams," said Efrata David, a seventh grade student of the same school.

 

On the other hand, the other student, Jeevan Adara; "The price of peace is high and education is better than peace," she said.

 

She also stated that she is preparing to be successful by studying hard.
