Ethiopia is undergoing rapid change and economic growth - Mayor of Villers-Bains, France

Cedric Van Steevendel, Mayor of Villers-Bains, France, said that Ethiopia is undergoing rapid change and economic growth. 

 

Deputy Prime Minister and Vice President of the Prosperity Party, Adam Farah, held discussions with the mayor. 

 

The party’s Vice President stated that Dire Dawa and Villers-Bains are sister cities that are working together. 

 

He also said that the cities’ joint work is of great benefit to strengthening relations between Ethiopia and France. 

 

He also noted that France is making a significant contribution to the success of development activities in Ethiopia. 

 

He cited cooperation on other projects, including the Ethio-Djibouti railway, as an example. 

 

He noted that Ethiopia is making extensive efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency, including wheat production, and announced that it has set a target of achieving 8.4 percent economic growth in the current year. 

 

He also expressed his belief that France’s support will continue to strengthen Ethiopia’s efforts to ensure development. 

 

Cedric Van Steevendel, Mayor of Villers-Bains, France, said, “We have seen that Ethiopia is undergoing rapid change and economic growth.” 

 

He said this is the result of the work of the government of change led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD).
