It has been said that the low to moderate earthquakes that have been frequently heard in the areas of the country in the Rift Valley are caused by the active magma movement in the ground. 

 

Due to the reduction of this rapid movement, the earthquake was subdued, but since the last 6 days, this movement has started to appear again, according to Addis Ababa University Geo Physics, Space Science and Astronomy Institute. Prof. Atalai Ayele, head of the seismology department and a lecturer and researcher in earthquake science at the university, told Tikvah Ethiopia.

 

"The activity that was seen in September and October and was wet has started to be seen again since 6 days ago. We are continuously recording it. So far, it has been recorded at 4.9, and it seems that it will not stop when we see it," he said. 

 

He said that other than the earthquake that was registered at 4:41 last night and the tremors were felt as far as Addis Ababa, there are still small movements and the work of recording is being done continuously.

 

The professor said that there is no change in the earthquake from the place of origin, Awash Fentale, and pointed out that the wave that is being felt in other areas is like the wave created when we throw a stone into water. 

 

"There is no risk that it may cause something worse in the current situation," they said, and if it continues like this, two types of hypotheses can be seen. 

 

"One of them will stop breathing when the energy in the first one is finished, but if not, the second one may push and cause a flow of particles, maybe it will have energy and it can flow like a flood," they said. 

 

In his promise to Tikvah Ethiopia, he stressed that if something like this happens, it is possible to set conditions and avoid it, so the government leaders in the hierarchy should be vigilant about this situation.
