When the golden singer Madingo Afewerk is remembered

Addis Ababa, September 2022, Artist Madingo Afework was born at the age of three months, moved to Debretabor city in South Gondar zone and grew up there.

Although the name he lived with was Madingo, his mother and father gave him the name "Tagene". "My lawyer means my shield," said Madingo himself.

Madingo said in several interviews that most of his family, including his father, were church ministers.

Madingo, who said that he fell in love with music when he was a child, said in his interviews that after seeing the 603 core music group of the 7th regiment camp rehearsing, he asked for a chance to be a vocalist.

And at that time, he got the opportunity and played the song "Na telak elbi, lakekek les sedek elbi" by singer Ephraim Tamrun and was appreciated.

After being accepted, he continued his music at the same military home, and he said that the name "Madingo" came to him there.

Madingo once considered Ephraim Tamru as a role model and said that Ephraim's works are the reason for his entry into the world of music and that he often plays his works.

He also said that he admires Mulukun, Tewodros Tadase, Tsegaye Esetu, Aragelekne Heret, Yehwane Baali, Elias Tebabal and plays their music.

Madingo spent a lot of time in a youth group and then in a military home, making his life in the city of Bahardar and making his dream of becoming a singer.

He was also living in Bahr Dar city, where he officially joined the music world, with a monthly salary of 120 birr and supporting his family.

After that, he came to Addis Ababa city and joined various music bands and gained popularity by playing the works of famous musicians.

In the process, in 1987, he released his album titled "Syame Atahulat" and "He introduced me to a person from my childhood".

As he gained appreciation and public love, years later, he released his second album, "Don't Do", and increased his popularity.

This album will not be done, Afraa Beautiful, I have no one, Mahlet, Monu Lu Lebi and other popular songs.

The vocal artist Madingo, who has a strong message in terms of message and content, has supported various scans around country, love, memory and social issues.

He has gained popularity among Ethiopians living abroad and Ethiopians by traveling around the world and presenting his works to his fans.

In the process, eight years after the release of his second album titled "Aye Doedem" he released his third album titled "Swedlat" to the listeners.

In this music album, there are songs called "Laka kisari", "When I love her", "I can't do it", "I won't be able to do it", "Please reconcile me", "If we are separated", "Take it", "Judge", "The street", "Mathebewa", "Marmar" and other songs.

Seswdlat's album was also nominated in various music competitions and was awarded as "Best Love Album".
