The Ethiopian Meteorological Institute has announced that light to moderate rainfall is expected in the next two weeks in the autumn-growing regions.

The institute said that meteorological features that contribute to rainfall will strengthen in the next two weeks.

In this regard, it said that they will be stronger in the south; northeast, east, central, southwest, as well as in the Rift Valley and adjacent areas.

It has also been indicated that many areas in the central, northeast, southwest and southern regions of the country, which are the autumn-growing regions, will receive light to moderate rainfall.

The forecast also indicates that heavy rainfall will be experienced in the south; central, northeast and southwest regions of the country, with occasional strengthening meteorological features.

Forecast data indicate that the maximum temperature in Gambella, Afar, Somali, Benishangul-Gumuz and West Amhara regions will exceed 35 degrees Celsius and in some places exceed 40 degrees Celsius.

The expected moderate to high humidity in the northeast, central, southern and western regions of the country over the next two weeks is expected to be positive for autumn agricultural activities.

The EZA reported that the dry summers and high evaporation rates associated with the variable nature of autumn will lead to a shortage of soil moisture.

Farmers, pastoralists and relevant bodies are advised to take precautionary measures in accordance with the agricultural advice provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
