Jawar Mohammed interview with Dereje Hailu on Arts Tv
Who is Jawar Mohammed?
Dhumuga, the small commercial town that connects Ma/Hararge zone and Arsin zone, was not only the birthplace of Jawar Mohammed, but it was also the center of struggle of the Oromo people who used Jawar and his followers for politics. 1978 These are the cities where Jawahar Muhammad Dhumuga Asela Adama, who came to this land as the blessing of Dhumuga, spent his educational life.
Jawar's educational life, which lasted from Dhumuga to Adama, was accompanied by three remarkable struggles and victories. One is that he is a very fast and model student, and the other is that Maletim Jawar, who went beyond learning and carried out the teaching task created in him, was in the 5th grade, 3rd grade, 8th grade, 6th and 7th grade high school, and as a chance teacher, he used to teach class students when he was not around. It was the political will that infected the third dhumuga.
Jawar Dhumuga Asela Adama used to create riots by creating different reasons for students to raise questions and rebel during all the periods when he was in school. The main agenda was that the ruling government (the system) was not democratic and the rights of the Oromo people were not respected. After entering high school, it was from the point of view that the lessons about the history of the Oromo people were not correct.
When Jawar finished his high school education, he was able to leave the country by scoring the highest score among the 25 students who were given the opportunity in the US government's special scholarship program for young people with special leadership skills. Far Eastern countries became the destination for Jawahar. Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, etc. were the countries that shaped Jawar not only in education but also in political personality. Jawar holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in human rights studies.
Jawar was not only focused on academic education while abroad, but more importantly, he was researching the knowledge he gained through color education. By analyzing the political conditions in the aforementioned countries, he has extensive experience in studying and solving the conflicts between the people and the government.
On the other hand, from his vision to participate in the country's politics, former Prime Minister Meles followed with special attention to find out and challenge the experiences and secrets of the Far East, which he believes to be our model.
It was during this period that Jawar's political talent and interest, which had been instilled in him since his childhood, became international. Before that, Jawar, who was unknown to anyone, began to attract attention with the analysis being provided by the international media. During the 1997 election, Al Jazeera's debate with Barakat Simeon and Jawar's failure of leadership, which he said was an obstacle to the ONL's political struggle, became an international topic.
In the process, Jawar, who joined the activism, became an international analyst by studying the politics of not only Ethiopia but more than 160 countries of the world. Jawar's analysis of politics has been scorned as if it were someone else's food.
Jawar once said during his stay with Al Jazeera television that I am Oromo first, it is like saying that dust and smoke from home and abroad did not accept my Oromoness. Not long ago, when he said in an interview that criticizing Islam was dangerous in the area where he was born, Jawar was interpreted as saying that except for Muslim Oromos, they should be destroyed, and Amhara politicians called Jawar a machete. Jawar came out victorious.
For the past 6 or 7 years, Jawar has focused on Ethiopia and Oromo politics. Analyzing the fact that the regime in the country is dominated by one group, he struggled to show the direction of change in the country and the establishment of a democratic country. Jawawar, who proves through scientific research that there are more than 200 fighting styles in the world, has applied them in the actual situation of our country.
Disobedience, going on strike, staying in the house, blocking the road to the market, joining hands and protesting are some of the strategies that Jawar implemented and used for change.
Two years ago, he issued the 12th class fatana and forced the government to listen to the people, which increased his fame. In addition to this, they exposed the negative role of the Joint Master Plan of Addis Abebe and Finfine Special Zone and other similar decrees in terms of the people's interest, and played a leading role for the people to fight and cancel the decrees.
Jawar founded OMN and is leading it as a director with the philosophy that freeing the air should be the first thing to achieve the struggle of the Oromo people and to bring about comprehensive change in Ethiopia. In addition, he has more than 1.3 million Facebook followers. Because of this, the message Jawar sends once reaches the world in minutes.
The Oromo people's struggle and victory strategy was organized and led the Oromo youth, who are the decisive force of the struggle, through the traditional organization and pronunciation of the name of Kero, which led to the victory of the people's struggle.
By exposing the abuses in the Amhara region, he supported the Amhara activists by showing direction and played a role in strengthening the relationship and struggle of the Oromo Amhara people.
Jawar, who said five years ago that the people's struggle can create a force for change even from the ousted OHDP, has come true, and the power led by Lema Megersa has brought unexpected changes in Ethiopia.
Scholars such as Prof. Hezkael Ingsa and Dr. Tsagaye Ararsa are freedom fighter scholars who Jawar has deployed for the people's struggle. One of the things that Jawar is criticized for is the fact that Ayyazu is democratic, and the issues that arise with omn journalists are presented as evidence.
There are many who say that Jawar Mohammed is comparable to Naje/Tadsa Beru, whose name is at the forefront of the struggle of the Oromo people, which lasted more than a quarter of a century and in which many heroes are remembered.
........ part two and the last will be presented tomorrow.
