Hawassa Lake Bird and Fish Market

******************

Recently, ABC's cyber colleague had a stay at Hawasa Lake, which is called the Lake of Love. Our reporter found a vibrant fish market around the lake at the foot of Mount Tabor, commonly known as the "Vulture Gorge", and captured the interesting subjects with his camera.

The Amora Gedal Fish Market, which is located near the Gudumale lakeside recreation area, is an area where the fish market is open from 12:00 in the morning. It is a place where fishermen organized by associations can be seen setting their nets on their boats.

It is a regular activity to observe the vultures commonly known as "Aba Koda" and their scientific name "Marabu storks" as they swoop down to collect the spoils from the caught fish fleet.

Another beauty of Lake Hawasa is the variety of beautiful bird species that can be seen on the shores of the lake.

Among the birds that entered the camera view of our reporter:

• Great cormorant - to mite

• Great egret - Sabisa,

• Marabou storks - Abba Koda,

• Black hornbill - Irkum,

• Black-headed gull

• Cormorants - Fishermen;

• Egyptian goose - Geese are just a few of the many.

Restaurants serving Amora Gedal's famous raw fish, fish soup and fried fish with data are also always open to serve customers.

Eating raw fish with data is popular and common in Hawassa, and the presentation is also accompanied by small round cakes.

The small fish that are caught in the traditional way, weighing 2 to 3 kilos, are tied together in a thin bago and are widely offered in the market. 90% of the fish production of Lake Hawassa is Tilapia (Koroso).
