Fate Sermolo, Speaker of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People's Region (SNNPR) Council, urged civil society organizations to focus on poverty reduction and community change.

The 13th round of government-civil society organizations' consultative forum is underway in Arbaminch.

She said partners are playing a positive role in filling development gaps that are not covered by the government to ensure public benefit.

There are 173 civil society organizations operating in the region. More than 553 projects are being funded by these organizations.

Food security, infrastructure access, democracy building and humanitarian services are among the major activities.

Head of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People's Region Finance Bureau, Teferi Abate, said civil society organizations have been playing their role. He said the community has been able to benefit more from the implementation of the proclamation.

He said the joint consultation forum will help solve problems related to the legal framework and procedures.
