Ato Henok Bekele, consultant of the malaria prevention and control program of the regional health office, said that more than 345,000 people were infected with malaria in the last financial year of the Southern Nations and People's Region.

 

He said that 1 thousand 616 of the people affected by the disease have been receiving medical treatment. Among them, 27 people have died due to the disease. According to Mr. Henok, the number of patients increased by 41 percent last year compared to the previous year.
