The government will not put the start of basic services in Tigray as a condition for the negotiations, said the ambassador.

"Peace negotiations are the only way to find a political solution to the conflict in the northern part of Ethiopia," said the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Meles Alem. He added that the Ethiopian government's position is to continue the peace efforts initiated by the African Union as a negotiator.

The Special Envoy of the African Union for the Horn of Africa, former President of Nigeria, Olsengo Obasanjo, said that although it is the desire of the Ethiopian government to continue with the facilitation, if necessary, Ethiopia will not object to the addition of famous people from Africa who support it through the African Union.

The government does not make the start of basic services in Tigray a condition for the negotiations. However, Bisrat Radio heard that the ambassador said that consultation and detailed discussions are needed to start the services.

Regarding the participation of the international community, the government has its own position and encourages them to provide financial, technical and logistical support. The goal of the negotiations is that there will be no participation outside of the African Union.

Among the actions taken by the government in the past, they mentioned that the war should stop and prevent further conflict from entering the Tigray region, an individual ceasefire agreement and the release of imprisoned politicians.
