Taye Denda, Minister of State for Peace Building and National Reconciliation at the Ministry of Peace, urged that the social media should not be a source of destruction and should be used carefully for the building of the nation and peace.

 

The Ministry of Peace held a consultation forum in Adama city under the theme of 'Social Media for Peace Building'.

 

The Ministry of Peace, in collaboration with the Charity Organization of Sincere Hearts, Addis Ababa City Administration and Addis Ababa University, presented their research on how to use social media for development and peace building and held a discussion.

 

Based on the study, it was stated that an agreement was reached to give basic journalistic and ethical training to social media experts so that they can use the media for the good of the world, and to give annual recognition to social media experts who use social media for development and nation building.

 

It was stated in the forum that 58.4 percent of the world's population uses social media and that social media is becoming the main source of information in Ethiopia.
