Ambassador Nabil discussed with the EU ambassador of South Sudan

 

Addis Ababa, September 2022, Ethiopian Ambassador to South Sudan, Nabil Mahdi, discussed with the European Union representative of South Sudan, Ambassador Timo Olkonen.

 

The ambassadors discussed the implementation of the South Sudan peace agreement.

 

Ambassador Nabil explained Ethiopia's contribution to regional stability, including South Sudan.

 

He also explained that the TPLF broke the ceasefire agreement and started a third war and is now trying to confuse the international community by calling for peace.

 

However, Ambassador Nabil confirmed that the government is still ready for peace.

 

From this point of view, he pointed out that the recent report issued by the International Human Rights Commission's expert group related to the conflict is unreliable, distorted and deviates from professional ethics.

 

He pointed out that the Ethiopian government does not recognize reports with political content, and asked the international community to play a constructive role instead of looking at the issue in a negative way.

 

For his part, Ambassador Timo said that all stakeholders need to work together for lasting peace in South Sudan, according to the information we received from the Ethiopian Embassy in South Sudan.
