Geshen Debre Kerbe King's Day is being celebrated after two years

The Geshen Debre Kerbe festival, which has not been celebrated at the required level in the past two years due to the war waged by the HWOT group, which has been classified as terrorism by the people, is being celebrated this year.

It will be recalled that preparations have been completed to celebrate the Gshen Debre Kerbe King's Day every year on September 21. It has been stated that there will be no security threat as there is no fighting with the HHW in the zone. It is said that pilgrims from different parts of Ethiopia will come to celebrate the festival, and it is expected that more than one million people will attend, the head of the South Wolo Zone Culture and Tourism Department, Mr. Mesfen Mekonen, told Bisrat Radio.

He said that in terms of infrastructure, road paving work, a situation where health services can be found nearby and other activities have been carried out. Mesfen Mekonen added that there will be a temporary hearing to take action against those who commit theft during the festival and told Bisrat Radio.

Geshen Debre Kerbe is located on Mount Geshen in Ambasal District, 82 kilometers from Dese City, the capital of South Wolo Zone.
