 Finance Minister Ahmed Shide announced that the government will support projects to improve the lives of the people by using the favorable natural resources and trade corridors of the Afar region.

 

Officials of the Ministry of Finance and responsible institutions left their green mark by planting 5 thousand saplings of multifaceted importance in Dubti district of Afar region today.

 

The minister, Ahmed Shide, has also started the renovation program of the home of the elderly and infirm, which is part of the summer voluntary service in Semera city.

 

Mr. Ahmed Shide discussed development with the leaders and residents of the region and said that the region has vast natural resources and is located on a convenient commercial corridor.

 

He announced that the state government will provide support for the works that have been initiated and carried out in the sector.

 

He pointed out that the region is highly vulnerable to floods, especially in relation to the fullness of the Awash River.

 

ESA reported that a project of more than 350 million dollars has been designed and put into operation with the World Bank as a country to prevent the flood.

 

Awal Arba, the head of government of Afar region, said, "The regional government will work together with the federal government to solve the threat of flooding in a sustainable way."
