Irecha festival is being celebrated in Addis Ababa from today, preserving its value - Dr. Hirut Kasau
Addis Ababa, September 2022 The Addis Ababa Culture and Tourism Office has announced that the Irecha festival will be celebrated in Addis Ababa from today.
In a statement given by the head of the office, Dr. Hirut Kasau, he said that the city administration is making extensive arrangements to preserve the festival's value and celebrate it in a peaceful and vibrant manner.
Dr. Hirut said that a panel discussion was held in all the districts of the sub-cities today. He also said that a bazaar has been opened which will allow the community to easily get the ingredients of the festival, including clothes, ornaments and food.
He pointed out that a panel discussion will be held in all sub-cities tomorrow, and on Friday, a panel discussion will be held in cooperation with the Oromia region as a city.
He pointed out that arrangements have been made at all five exit gates of the city to welcome guests entering the city to celebrate the festival.
Dr. Hirut said that the social, economic and political importance of the Irecha festival is high and the residents of the city should celebrate the festival which is a symbol of peace, love and unity according to the usual tradition of welcoming guests.
He said that Irecha is a part of Geda system registered by the World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and will be celebrated in a bright manner.
