Colon cancer causes, symptoms and treatment

Colon cancer is usually caused when cells from the inner part of the large intestine grow out of control.

Dr. Shemse Sheumolo, a general surgery specialist who had a meeting with Fana Broadcasting Corporation, said obesity, smoking, drinking alcohol, and regular consumption of cow food are the causes of colon cancer.

He also said that family, lack of physical activity, HIV-AIDS, having a genetic problem called FAP and other causes of pain.

According to Dr. Shemse, colon cancer can remain without symptoms, but the main symptoms are abnormal stools, blood in stools, loss of appetite, intestinal swelling and bursting, constipation, abdominal cramps, abdominal swelling, and diarrhea.

The health expert advised that we can prevent the disease by eating foods containing folic acid and foods rich in calcium and magnesium, eating vegetables and fruits regularly, exercising, and avoiding smoking and alcohol.

Regarding the treatments, Dr. Shemse said that when the symptoms mentioned above appear, it is necessary to go to a medical facility to be seen.

He explained that the types of treatment are surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
