Engineer Warku Gachna, Director General of Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute
Since information is needed like fuel, it is necessary to carefully handle the long-standing information of the institutions to get the best benefit as a country, said Engineer Warku Gachna, Executive Director of the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute.
As Engineer Warku told the Ethiopian Press Organization; Both private and public institutions in our country must protect every piece of information in a technologically advanced manner. They should use the information they have properly for problem-solving issues and bring the proper benefit to their country.
In addition, he pointed out that at the national level, the artificial intelligence or artificial perception research and development center is being established and the work of organizing the digital data collection is being done.
In terms of modern information management system, the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute has built a modern data center organized as a country, Engineer Warku said. They stated that even if the center experiences a failure, it includes technology that can self-destruct and preserve the information it holds.
The Director-General pointed out that the data center was brought into the country with the support of foreign currency based on the government's relations with foreign countries. Since it works 24 hours without interruption, institutions and researchers have announced that they are using it at all times of need.
According to the Director General; The institute is working to develop information management technology and ideas as a nation. In this regard, it has strengthened its cooperation with both private and public institutions and has made agreements with various institutions on data management and collection.
He said that they are being made to access the services of the data center through agreements made with institutions operating in various fields, especially health and agriculture, peace and security, communication and media.
In addition to this, we need to create awareness about the fact that every institutional information is an important resource for the future generation. In every institution, information should be collected every day in a technology-assisted way, and the foundation should be laid so that it can be used for the next generation, said the director general.
He said that it is necessary to help the development of the country by using the information kept by private and public institutions for research and necessary services.
It is to be remembered that the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government Communication Service to share information through technology.
