To open a new bank account in Addis Ababa, it has become mandatory to be present with Faida digital ID.

According to the instructions issued by the National Bank of Ethiopia, starting from today December 23, 2017 (Jan 1st 2025), to open a new bank account at all banks in Addis Ababa, it has been implemented as a first condition to bring a Faida digital ID (Faida number).

Following the implementation of the National Bank of Ethiopia's "Compulsory Bank Service" order, the National ID Program has announced the official launch of a joint awareness campaign involving the marketing and corporate public relations officials of various banks.
