Nile Day is being celebrated for the 17th time in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Minister of Water and Energy, Dr. E. Habtamu Itefa, stated that it is necessary to pay close attention to the increasing population demand and the decreasing water resources in each of the Nile member countries.

In particular, they noted that the development level of partner countries is low and the development needs are mainly the basic human needs of food security, electricity supply and access to clean drinking water supply.

The minister added that all member countries should give priority to cooperation in using the limited water resources, according to information from the Ministry of Water and Energy.
