Ato Shimelis Abdisa said that we moved to export wheat because we worked hard
We moved from importing wheat to exporting because we planned and worked hard with the resources we have, said Shimels Abdisa, the head of government of Oromia region.
In an article posted on his social networking page, Ato Shimelis said, "Our journey to prosperity will be successful when we can free our economy from foreign support and reduce income by substituting domestic products."
They mentioned that he has been working on a plan to make this a reality.
He mentioned that in the past, the government spent billions of dollars to import wheat, which has damaged the country's economy by wasting resources that should have been spent on other developments.
He pointed out that one of the government's promises to the people is to enable Ethiopia to become one of the top five countries in Africa with good economic status.
For this reason, he explained that various plans have been put in place to ensure economic growth based on the labor force of our people and domestically produced raw materials.
Ato Shimelis said that we are carrying out the tasks that need to be done in Ethiopia, from the federal level to the regional level, and he said that increasing the domestic product is one of the most important.
He emphasized that the role of the farmers in the production process is irreplaceable.
He confirmed that the region is working to organize the farmers' land in Kuta, distribute fertilizers and best seeds, and provide professional supervision to cultivate the whole year without waiting for the season.
He pointed out that a high production of wheat is expected in the region. For example, 60 thousand hectares have been cultivated in 16 districts of the North Showa zone and there are already promising results.
