Work is being done to restart all the damaged water infrastructures in the Tigray region

Addis Ababa, the Ministry of Water and Energy has announced that all the water infrastructure damaged by the conflict in the Tigray region is being worked on quickly.

Minister of Water and Energy Habtamu Itefa told Fana Broadcasting Corporation that 5.4 million citizens in the Tigray region are working together to restore water service.

Following the peace agreement, several works have been carried out to repair and restart water facilities that were damaged in various areas of the region.

In particular, he pointed out that the necessary maintenance work has been done in 76 cities and districts, including Adwa, Axum, Shire, Shiraro, Selakhlekha, Adi Hagerai, Adi Daero, Adi Nebriid, Abaguna and Waqoro Marai.

As a result, more than 1.3 million citizens were able to use drinking water again, the minister said.

For this, the minister said that the ministry has so far released more than 60 million birr.

He also stated that he will work in coordination with partners to restart the water infrastructures that have been damaged in other areas.
