Somali Regional Governor Mustafa Muhammed and Federal Minister of Health Dr. Lia Tadese inaugurated the Jigjiga University Sheikh Hassan Beef Referral Hospital Expansion Project.

 

The expansion includes a 24-hour Gurmed Emergency Ambulance Service Center, a 30-bed Emergency and Intensive Care Center and an MRI service.

 

Ato Mustafe Muhammad said that the hospital will include services that were not available before and will enable the local community and the residents of neighboring regions to benefit from the services.

 

He mentioned that patients sent to Addis Ababa and other countries for various medical services will be able to receive the services at the hospital.

 

Dr. Lia Tadese said that the expansion of emergency and intensive care centers and short call centers for ambulance services is especially important in preventing deaths caused by emergencies.

 

The hospital, which was expanded with a budget of 500 million birr; Dr. Abdullahi Hussain, the director general of the hospital, said that his role is important in increasing the access and quality of health in the region.
