83 million dollars of income was obtained from the sale of electricity

#Ethiopia | In the 10 months of the 2015 fiscal year, Ethiopia has earned more than 83 million dollars from the sale of electricity to neighboring countries.

According to the communication director of the institution, Ato Moges Mekon, 12 thousand 126 gigawatts of the energy generated in the ten months of the fiscal year have been sold.

He pointed out that this is 85 percent of the performance compared to the plan and a 26 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

He said that in the ten months of the fiscal year, more than 14 billion birr was obtained from domestic energy sales and more than 83 million dollars from electricity sold to neighboring countries.

Ato Moges pointed out that Djibouti, Kenya and Sudan are the countries where the sale of electricity has been made.

In addition to Djibouti and Sudan, Ethiopia started selling electricity to Kenya in November 2015, ESA recalled in the report.
