Efforts are being made to increase income from tourism in Bahir Dar City, Gambella and Benishangul Gumuz regions.

 

Bahirdar City Administration, Gambella and Benishangul Gumuz Regions are working to increase the income from tourism.

 

Officials told Fana Broadcasting Corporation that the number of visitors to the areas is increasing.

 

According to the Head of Bahirdar City Culture and Tourism Department, Gashaw, the communities that have already had infrastructure work are providing convenient services to visitors.

 

He said that to make other communities easily accessible to visitors, important infrastructures are being built at various destinations, including the roads leading to Sumi Abai Falls and Zege.

 

Gambella Regional Culture and Tourism Bureau Chief Obang Ochala said that a profile of many natural and man-made communities in the region has been prepared.

 

He stated that some of the communities are being developed to be convenient for visitors and the state government is working to develop the rest.

 

Director of Tourism Development of Benishangul Gumuz Regional Culture and Tourism Bureau, Shimels Andre, pointed out that Bijemiz National Park has been recognized by the regional council and Mao-Komo and Kamash candidate national parks are under study.

 

He also explained that he is working with the Heritage Protection Authority to preserve and repair the palace of Muhammad Banjaw.

 

The officials said that they are working to increase the income from tourism by connecting the meeting places with road infrastructure and making them easily accessible to visitors.
