Athlete Solomon Barega won a 10 km cross-country race in Spain

December 30/2015 (Walta) Athlete Solomon Barega won the 10 km cross-country race held in Spain's industrial city Elgoibar.

The 79th Juan Muguerza Cross Country Championship was held today.

In the 10kg men's race at the championship, athlete Solomon Barega won the championship with a time of 33 minutes and 14 seconds.

The athlete won by increasing his speed and breaking away from his competitors in the last kilometers of the race.

This is the second time that athlete Solomon Juan Muguerza has won the cross country championship, he was the winner of the event in 2018.

The Ethiopian-Bahrainian athlete finished second and the Moroccan-born Spanish athlete Adel Mechal finished third.

Eritrean athlete Rachel Daniel won the women's 8 km race.

Kenyan athlete Edinah Jebitok came second and Winfred Yavi, a Kenyan-born Bahraini athlete, took second and third place respectively, ESA reported.

The Juan Muguerza Cross Country Championship is a race held in memory of the late Spanish middle distance runner Juan Muguerza in 1937.
