Addis Ababa city administration held a signing ceremony to start the construction of small and medium manufacturing industrial cluster.

 

Today, the administration signed an agreement with MCGTN Construction for the construction of an industrial park that will facilitate the development of small and medium manufacturing industries in Akaqi Kaliti District at a cost of 7.7 billion birr.

 

It has been revealed that the construction will create job opportunities for 18 to 20 thousand citizens.

 

The industrial village is especially important for the processing of agricultural products, wood and metal works, textiles and clothing, construction materials, leather and leather products; Chemical and plastic products will also contain electronics and pharmaceutical factories.

 

Mrs. Adanech Abebe, the mayor who signed the agreement, said that the city administration has prepared up to 93 hectares of land for industry to grow our city, which is an indication of how much attention it has paid to the sector.

 

Mayor Adanech stated that this project is a project that the city will carry out with its own budget and plan in order to ensure the economic transition of our city. They stated that it plays an important role in order to avoid foreign exchange, to create job opportunities, to produce proxy products.

 

Mayor Adanech Abebe said that the grace period for the project to be completed is two years, but this means that it may not take two years.

 

He said that while we are increasing our capacity with the project, we are increasing our own capacity by giving the work of mega projects that were given to foreign contractors to local investors.

 

Engineer Debo Tunka, Head of Mega Projects, said that this project is the first of its kind.

 

  The construction will be carried out on a total of 93 hectares of land, and the construction of lot one and lot three will be started according to the current agreement, and the others will continue in the process.

 

 21 sheds with different floors in the building; It will also have 400 suppliers and product stores.

Engineer Jagema Keneni, the contractor who participated in the work, said that since the project is our national responsibility, we will complete it and hand it over as our own resources, not as a business person.
