It is said that about 2.5 million people in Ethiopia live with severe dementia

    Today is World Dementia Day

The Alzheimer's Association has announced that Alzheimer's disease, which is mostly reported as a disease of the elderly, has not received much attention in Ethiopia. The founder and manager of the association, as well as Dr. Yared Zeneb, a neurologist and cognitive neurology specialist at the Black Lion College of Health Sciences at Addis Ababa University, told Bisrat Radio. According to the information released by the Ministry of Health, 2.1 to 2.5 million Ethiopians suffer from amnesia, although no national studies have been conducted on amnesia.

About 10 million people worldwide are affected by dementia each year, which means that someone is affected by the disease every three seconds. It has been said that there is a fear that this number will increase by two or three times in the next 20 years. The fact that this number is high in the world is due to an increase in the risk of head injuries from time to time.

Dr. Jared mentioned that more than one point three trillion money is spent on this disease in the world every year, which is money that is used to take care of the sick and the family is released from work and for treatment.

In order to save this wealth, 40 percent of Alzheimer's disease or dementia is prevented. Dementia is said to be the seventh deadliest disease in the world, and today is International Dementia Day.

Be patient
