"Today's beginnings have a great contribution to our success tomorrow," said Deputy Prime Minister Temesenge Tiruneh.

 

The Deputy Prime Minister's social media page. "Today, in a unique and for the first time in our country in the Somali region, we visited and harvested the irrigated rice field," he said.

 

"There are more than seven areas where rice crops can be grown in our country, one of which is the Somali region," he said. 

 

"Rice production has started in Amhara and Oromia regions on a large scale, so we will work hard to repeat the results we achieved with wheat in order to be self-sufficient in food," he said.
