Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET-302 Crash Memorial Ceremony Held

Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET-302 crashed minutes after takeoff from Addis Ababa to Nairobi, Kenya on March 1, 2011, killing all on board.

The Minister of Transport and Logistics, Alemu Sime (Dr.), along with the families of the victims, ambassadors, various guests and local residents, attended the unveiling of a memorial to the victims.

Alemu Sime (Dr.) said that while the plane crash is a great sorrow that will never be forgotten, it has taught us to work with determination to ensure the safety of air transport.

The Minister said that significant steps have been taken by the global aviation industry to enhance safety, improve aircraft design and strengthen regulation following this accident.

Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tassew, for his part, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.

The CEO said that this accident is a lesson learned from the accident, which requires us to prioritize safety, according to the Ministry of Transport and Logistics.

The program also acknowledged the contributions of the local community from the time of the accident to the construction of the memorial.
