The Irreecha festival of the Horro Finfine people was celebrated here in Addis Ababa today.

 

A great many people, including Abba Gadas and Hada Sinqe's, attended the celebration.

 

The Addis Ababa Police Commission stated that the festival was celebrated with a magnificent ceremony, successfully and peacefully.

 

It also extended its gratitude to all parties who contributed to the successful celebration of the festival.

 

The 2018 Irreecha festival of the Horro Finfine people was celebrated here in Addis Ababa today with a very large number of attendees.

 

In the early morning, attendees began heading towards the festival grounds, offering thanks to their Creator, saying, "We thank you, Maa'ree Ho, for waiting for the cycle of time and transferring us from darkness to light."

 

The Abba Gadas started the celebration with their blessings.

 

In their blessings, they expressed the wish that the year be one of unity, peace, and forgiveness.

 

The Hada Sinqe's were also present at the festival and offered praise to their Creator through song.

 

The festival was also attended by various nations and nationalities.

 

They presented their own cultural music.

 

This is the seventh time the Horro Finfine Irreecha festival is being celebrated in Addis Ababa.

 

Tomorrow, the festival will also be celebrated in Bishoftu, at Horro Harsede.

 

The Irreecha festival being celebrated this year is under the guiding theme of "Irreecha for National Reconciliation."

 

The festival is a time for the Oromo people to give thanks to their Creator for the past good times and to express their hopes for the future.

 

It has been stated that the festival is one where, in response to the grace given by the Creator, the Creator is thanked.
