This drama series centers on Poyraz Karayel, a police officer who loses custody of his son after being sentenced to prison due to charges brought against him. Following his sentence, he becomes a taxi driver with the help of his superior, Mumtaz; however, his job entails more than just driving—he is also tasked with monitoring Bahri Umman, the head of one of Istanbul's most powerful mafia families. One day, while driving his taxi, Poyraz finds himself unable to see his son, and the matter ends up in police hands. Amidst these events, he meets Ayşegül.
Lelije (Poyraz Karayel): A Turkish Drama That Masterfully Blends Crime, Family, Love, and Redemption

Among the many Turkish dramas that have captured the hearts of viewers across the world, Lelije stands out as one of the most memorable and emotionally engaging series. Known internationally by its original title Poyraz Karayel, the drama offers much more than a typical crime story. It is a carefully woven tale of a father's struggle, a man's search for justice, the complexities of love, and the difficult choices people make when caught between loyalty and morality.

The Amharic-dubbed version, popularly known as Lelije, has developed a strong following among Ethiopian audiences. Viewers are drawn not only to its suspenseful storyline but also to the depth of its characters and the realism of its emotional conflicts. Unlike many dramas that depend solely on romance or action to keep audiences interested, Lelije succeeds because it presents multidimensional characters whose journeys feel authentic and relatable.

At its core, the story follows Poyraz Karayel, a police officer whose life is turned upside down after a series of devastating events. Wrongly accused and imprisoned, he loses the very thing that means the most to him: his young son. What follows is a long and difficult journey filled with sacrifice, danger, heartbreak, and hope.
