The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia announced that it is doing large-scale works to adapt the society to the modern payment system.

• Ethiopian Commercial Bank Kirkos District has conducted a program to introduce the bank's fuel trading options.

On Saturday, May 19, 2015, the Central Region Vice President of Ethiopian Commercial Bank, Kidane Mengesha, who launched the program at Total Mall in Bulgaria, said that the Ethiopian Commercial Bank is doing large-scale activities to introduce digital banking services and adapt the society to modern payment systems.

 

About 63 percent of the bank's financial transactions are done through digital payment options, Mr. Kidane said. He said that the bank has about 18 million digital banking service users and the fact that it owns various digital banking options will make the fuel transaction more efficient.

 

Kirkos District Director Shemsu Bergecho said that the program was designed to raise public awareness of the bank's fuel payment options. He also said that it also included a ceremony of appreciation and recognition for the contribution made by fuel station owners, sales professionals and the bank's employees and branches so far to strengthen the service.

 

On that day, stations, sales professionals, bank professionals and branches that achieved better results using the bank's fuel payment options in Kirkos District received incentive awards. A certificate of appreciation was also given to 20 stations that have established a working relationship with Kirkos District.

 

The program aimed at promoting digital fuel payment options of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia was attended by gas station owners, bank customers, invited guests, Central Region officials and Kirkos District leaders and workers.
