He stated that DDR is acceptable in principle and "however, the conspiracy to destroy the Tigray army using DDR as a reason is not acceptable."

In his response to the Ethiopian National Election Board's statement regarding the date limit for the TPLF to hold a legal conference, he said, "The board refrained from issuing various malicious orders, including 'hold a conference', and focus on continuing the efforts to resolve the differences that have arisen through political dialogue."
