Federal Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Demeke Mekonon discussed with Nardos Bekele, Secretary General of the African Development Agency - New Partnership for African Development.

 

In their discussion, they advised on the implementation of NEPAD development programs and the role of countries.

 

As Mr. Demeke stated in the discussion, NEPAD's development programs are of significant help to the effort being made to reduce poverty in Africa.

 

They confirmed that Ethiopia will continue to strengthen its support for the implementation of the development programs.

 

Ato Demeke also briefed the Secretary General about the current situation in Ethiopia.

 

He also emphasized that the government is paying attention to peace-building and restoration works.

 

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NEPAD will continue to strengthen its development activities in the continent.

 

Nardos Bekele, on his part, said that NEPAD's development plans play an important role in the achievement of the development plans of the African Union Agenda 2063.

 

He also stated that resource mobilization is necessary to fill the financial gaps in the implementation of NEPAD's plans.

 

It was stated in the discussion that NEPAD's development cooperation with Ethiopia is in agriculture, science and technology, small and medium enterprises and similar development fields.
