The delegation that is participating in the African Mayoral Leadership Initiative (AMALI) City Leadership Forum under the leadership of the Honorable Mayor of Addis Ababa, Ms. Adanech Abebe, along with representatives of the Ethiopian community living in South Africa; Cape Town held a discussion.

 

The forum was organized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Pretoria. It aims to exchange information on current national issues and opportunities and favorable conditions for the diaspora to participate in various investment and business sectors at home.

They explained.

 

At the same time, the members of the diaspora in South Africa are actively engaged in various investment sectors at home using the various investment and business opportunities provided by the government at home and the knowledge, capital and work experience they have acquired abroad, especially in the areas of housing construction, tourism, education and industry that have been prioritized by the Addis Ababa city administration. Mayor Adanech stated that the city government will provide all the necessary support for the members of the diaspora who come to work in these sectors.

 

At the same time, the honorable members of the delegation, the mayors of Bahardar, Adama and Dese cities, gave a detailed explanation regarding the current national issues and the cities' readiness to engage the diaspora and their readiness to receive investment participation.

 

Thanking the participants of the discussion for the detailed explanation and invitation to participate, they said that they will continue to strengthen their participation in national affairs. That they have the ability, desire and readiness to engage in investment and business activities at home; Also pointing out that they are facing many problems of good management and corrupt practices in the course of their work activities; He asked the government to strengthen the efforts it started recently to solve the problems.
