Hulet Lib - Part 31 (Kana Television Drama).

It is said that the months from Meskerem to Tahsas are when malaria occurs widely.

Messages are being circulated urging the public to take precautions accordingly.

A local organization working on this issue stated that one reason why the spread of the disease remains high in Ethiopia is the existence of misconceptions about the illness, and that efforts must also focus on this.

Information from the Ministry of Health indicates that the overall spread of #malaria in Ethiopia occurs widely during the months from Meskerem to Tahsas.

Following the winter rains in the highlands and the floods that occurred in various areas, precautionary messages are being circulated stating that the disease could start occurring from the month of Meskerem onwards.

The message being circulated is that the accumulated winter rains in various areas, combined with the upcoming high temperatures, could create favorable conditions for the disease to spread.

The Health Development and Anti-Malaria Association, which has been working on preventing this same disease for the past 27 years, has issued a similar call.

The association's Director, Mr. Abara Mhiret, stated that people should not die from an illness that is preventable and treatable.

Mr. Abara said that one reason for the continued high spread of malaria in Ethiopia is the existence of misconceptions about the illness.

He recalled that in previous years, particularly in rural areas, people neglected precautionary measures because they believed malaria only occurred in lowland areas.

The Director also cited that some types of medication given to people who visited health institutions were ineffective.

He added that people who couldn't be cured by these medications, especially in rural parts of Ethiopia, associated the disease with something else, which further exacerbated the problem.

It is worth remembering that according to data released by the World Health Organization in 2019 according to the Gregorian calendar, malaria transmission is decreasing worldwide.

Ethiopia was one of the countries mentioned as having a decreasing spread of the disease.

However, it has been reported that over the past two years, the spread of the disease has been expanding again in Ethiopia.

Data shows that 52% of Ethiopia's total population lives in areas susceptible to malaria.
