Wegagen Bank announced that it achieved record-high revenue and profit in the last fiscal year.
The bank confirmed that it earned 13.5 billion Birr in revenue, with an earnings per share of 46.10 percent.
At its 32nd regular General Assembly of shareholders held today, the Bank's Board Chairman, Ato Abdishu Hussen, presented the Bank's report for the 2024/25 fiscal year.
In the report, he indicated that Wegagen Bank secured a historic high of 13.5 billion Birr in revenue, which shows a 38 percent growth compared to the previous fiscal year.
The Board Chairman noted that the bank made a pre-tax profit of 3.85 billion Birr, which is the highest profit ever recorded in its history.
The report highlighted that the profit has a 73 percent advantage compared to the same period last fiscal year.
It was reported that Wegagen Bank's paid-up capital reached 7 billion Birr at the end of the fiscal year, which is above the minimum paid-up capital requirement set by the National Bank.
The Board Chairman, in their report, confirmed that the bank's total capital reached 12.8 billion Birr, and its total assets reached 84.7 billion Birr.
It was mentioned that the bank's deposits registered a 28 percent growth in the fiscal year, reaching 65.5 billion Birr.
It was stated that the bank's loan disbursement to various economic sectors reached 53.5 billion Birr, which indicates an 18 percent growth compared to the previous fiscal year.
The Chief Executive Officer of Wegagen Bank, Akililu Wubet (Dr.), on his part, stated that the bank has been resilient amidst notable volatilities and challenges in the sector and continues to register superior performance.
The CEO also recalled that last fiscal year, Wegagen Bank not only pioneered in the Ethiopian securities market but also established and launched "Wegagen Capital," the country's first private investment bank.
It was announced that Wegagen Bank's branches have reached 455, and the number of shareholders has reached 14,871.
